I recently ran a printmaking workshop at Rowan in Cambridge. Prior to the Easter break students enjoyed making simple colourful drypoint prints.

Rowan is a charity and arts centre aimed at bringing together local professional artists and people with learning disabilities.

This one day workshop will introduce participants to a new form of printmaking for artists. Printmaking with photopolymer plates or solarplate is simple, safe, and versatile whereby an artwork, made on transparent material, is placed in close contact with a light sensitive plate. The plate is then exposed to sunlight or an artificial source of UV light and developed in tap water. The method is easy to learn – previous knowledge and experience of printmaking processes and materials is not essential.

Susie Turner, is a professional artist-printmaker who regularly delivers talks and demonstrations about traditional and contemporary methods of fine art printmaking. In the last five years Susie has worked extensively with Photopolymer Plates. This one day workshop will allow participants the opportunity to work closely with Susie within her own studio and learn simple techniques of Printmaking with Photopolymer Plates.

Date: Saturday 21st April, 19th May, 4th August, 8th September

Time: 10am – 4.30pm

Cost of workshop: £75.00 including all printmaking materials plus 2 x A5 solar plates

Fermynwoods Contemporary Art are running a series of weekly workshops led by artists from araound the country with children and teachers from William Knibb Complimentary Education Centre within Fermyn Woods near Kettering in Northamptonshire

Over three days I ran a series of printmaking workshops at Fermyn Woods for teachers and students involved in complimentary education.

This 2 day course will introduce participants to a very simple and safe method of printmaking. Working with light sensitive printing plates that can be exposed using natural sunlight and then developed in tap water, you will be shown how to transfer found material and hand drawn imagery into unique prints.
